I have been busy lately, very very busy lol I have been browsing the internet, bidding and buying lots of web notes and a few FRN district sets. NEW PET PEEVE why do most Ebay most sellers NOT sell full district set. a true FULL set is 1 note from each district for each facility right? 7 for DC 8 for FW... should be 15, not just 12!!!! well, ok, so thats just my opinion lol but shouldnt a full set be a full set?? here are my 3 new web note additions, and 2 new 'full' non-star district sets. missing the star sets for now .. will try to add them later as funds build up lol Web-Press Note collection - Added 3 new notes, 1988A FM R1 2-1, 1988A FV R2 9-4, 1988A FV R7 4-8, and an upgrade to 1995 DC R11 2-9 (in format 'series date' 'block' 'run number' and 'front-back plate numbers') Federal Reserve Notes - Added 2 district sets in CHCU - 1963 and 1963A thanks for looking OH - i also have about 15 or so new webs coming in - most 1988A series so i will let you all know when i get them posted

Interesting. I hadn't previously heard of that set, but of course that doesn't mean you can't collect it. I thought folks generally didn't worry about the DC/FW distinction unless they were looking for something even bigger than a regular block set.... Marginally related: The BEP just released the June production report yesterday, and the production schedule has been so crazy lately that Series 2006 $1's on all twelve districts have now been printed at Fort Worth. That's certainly never happened in a $1 series before.
i may be the weird one in the bunch wouldnt be the first time lol but i collect each note from each district from both printing facilities. to me, its just not complete without them :thumb: I had been watching your serial tables for this currenct series, and thought how odd it was that FW had notes printed for the B and C districts along with the traditional F thru L ... i got the email yesterday, but hadnt had a chance to look at it... but seeing your updated table makes me think there is somethign wrong with the presses at the washington facility!!! Is the new press they have causing a slow down? The economy is slowing down, so why the huge needed for $1's? somethig is amiss
thats sort of what i was thinking ... and maybe its that changeover that is causing the events we are seeing now???
got 2 more webs in todays mail .. both have been added - 1988A EK R9 8-6 and 1988A EK R9 8-8 anyone know what the point was tothe front and back plate numbers? I have read that they might have something to do with the differances in the washington portrait - like each different front plate number has a slightly different portrait? of maybe each front/back plate combo has a different portrait.... but its pure conjecture - yes, there are a bunch of different portraits used throughout the series, but i dont know how each portraits use was tracked.... if at all! I might set up a gallery of all the portraits with the fp/bp comboks listed as a visual thing for folks to look at see just how different the portraits can be lol there is this 1 portrait where old george look slike he has some asian descent
I would really like to see tha different Georges, never heard of that. I think they are used when a fault is found in the finished product, so the faulty plate can be removed.
i played around with some images last night and put together a small collage of 2 front plate images. the first portrait is from front plate 5, the second is from front plate 4 and the last is front plate 3. the first thing i noticed is the difference in the engraving and how thick the engraved lines are. All front plate 5 notes look like the fisrt image, all front plate 4 portrait look slike the second image ect. So i dont think its a matter of a particular note getting more or less ink to account for the different 'looks'. the first image looks shorter and fatter the second image looks taller and slightly more narrow the 3rd and last image has eyes that look thinner, almost like he is squnting.
Wow, they do look different. Maybe it is plate wear that is causing the change in appearance? That would explain why the same plate #'s look the same and why others look different. I wonder if you could find 2 of the sameplate # that look different?
i dont have enough of a stock to compare 20 or so notes with the same plate number . I choose the front plate numbers 5, 4 and 3 becuase those are the numbers i have the most of... and yes, all my 4's look the same. all my 3's look the same ect
