Sabina Ar Denarius 129 AD Obv Bust right diademed hair in long plait at back. Rv Concordia seated left. RIC 398b RIC II/3 2501 3.19 grms 18 mm Photo by W. Hansen sabina10.jpg Sabina is the first Roman Empress to be featured on the coinage with any regularity. Whereas many Roman women have been featured on the coinage, their appearance is usually of short duration or of a commemorative nature making their coins scarce. This is interesting as it is generally thought that Hadrian had very little interest in her and did not treat her well.

If the "regular" Sabinas are rare...how rare are the left facing ones? I guess I mean are they not up for auction much? And if I paid $90 for mine what is a round about price on a lefty?

I know that when my example above sold that the dealer got $180.

Nice addition, I like the portrait. I have to admit that the only coin of an empress in my collection, is Iulia Domna (so far...)

As a European consumer, I disagree! The coins shown below is obviously MS/AU/FDC/Stempelglanz, right? ;)

I bet some auction houses I know would describe this coin as "nearly very fine" and (optional) "minor surface problems".

But I would accept this coin, Caligula is missing completely from my collection.
