Grease filled die?

    I found this lincoln last week.Not sure if it's a grease filled die or die adjustment strike. Knowlegable opinions would be welcome.Thanks.

    Greased filled die yes.

    Thanks for your reply.The more I thought about it I guess a die adjustment would mean a light strike on both sides?

    You are correct about the strike on both sides. Even though it would probably fit the generic term "grease" filled, the discoloration doesn't seem normal for grease. Obviously something was there, but it looks like a chemical reaction occurred from the substance.

    Nice find. I've never seen one with that much detail on Lincoln's face missing.
