Hi, on Ebay i find sellers stating that they are auctioning coins that are satin finish. They claim they come from a set other than the mint sets. Are there satin coins in any sets besides the uncirculated mint sets? U07/ U08. ect..

from 2005 onward. Also there is a Kennedy half (I think it is 1997) and a Jefferson nickel. These are called burnished though. Also there are "burnished" Eagles.

U07 and U08 are US Mint Sets, that's the mint's number for them on the cardboard box they were shipped in. I know because I have several in my box of unopened Mint Sets.

If you're referring to regular denominations like 5¢ and 10¢, the only place to get them in a satin finish is from a Mint Set. If not, the commemorative coins are struck in satin finish for uncirculated coins and the Silver American Eagle is also struck in a satin finish.

    Dollars

I emailed these Ebay sellers, questioning that their presidential dollars were actually satin finish(They stated in their auction listing that the satin presidential dollars came from a uncirculated dollar set, not the US uncirculated mint set). I thought that all the satin finish presidential dollars came from the US mint's uncirculated mint sets(U08, U07, ect.. I'm sorry, i should have mentioned that they were presidential dollars in my original post). It appeared to me that the sellers were uninformed about the satin finish coins, and were actually selling regular finish dollars to unaware buyers. So i decided to post here, to get others opinions. I don't have the listing, as the auctions ended awhile back.

    Mint descriptions!

Thats where i'm getting confused. When i go to the mint website, i find two sets containing Presidential uncirculated dollars. The 2009 uncirculated presidential dollar set(XE3, listed under special collectibles) & the 2008 Annual uncirculated dollar set(XA2, listed under American eagles/ uncirculated silver eagles). There is nothing in the mints product description on these two products that mention satin finish. I did'nt call the mint to verify, but you would think it would be in the product description!

I can confirm that they have already come out with the 2009 Satin Prez dollars. I have bought a complete Satin Finish PCGS set for 2009. I had the same question to as where the 09 Satin Prez dollars came from. Now that I stopped collecting every single set the mint comes out with, I am kinda in the dark about these things.

It has never been statedby the Mint, but I have tried as best as I can to confirm on several occasions, and what the info has always said is that the coins are indeed satin finish coins contained in every mint packaged dollar product with the exception of the proof coins.

    Coa

I have quite a few of the 6 piece uncirculated dollar sets(With the Eagle). I guess i could unseal one and check out the COA(if that set has a COA). Thanks for all of your input on this!
