Acid cleaned, refurbished and aged.....my type o' guy. Sounds like that cheap scotch I got from the neighbors.
" Wow!! A Cheap 1942 over 1941 Dime!!!! " Assuming it is genuine of course. Otherwise, maybe not so cheap after all.
I have my doubts that the seller is being TOTALLY honest. If you will check the seller's store, you'll find it is full of commonly counterfeited koinz from China. :goof: That alone should tell you where he got them from! Ribbit
love the honesty! "I was told (by a local coin dealer) that these coins have been acid cleaned, refurbished and then aged. They are only good for fill-in for collection and conversation piece. They have lost most of their value to purest collectors or people buying for investments. " He doesn't belong on eBay!
Ps: For those that wonder where he got them from, he got them from the same source that these came from: http://stores.shop.ebay.com/RVK-Cur...18QQ_sidZ653515638QQ_trksidZp4634Q2ec0Q2em322 Ribbit
Pps: In case someone here still thinks the 42/1 koin iz real, look at the seller's feedback as a buyer and all the counterfeit seller's that are on his list of peeps he's bought from! :goof: http://myworld.ebay.com/happynewyear88 http://myworld.ebay.com/robert2313513 http://myworld.ebay.com/ixwisdom http://myworld.ebay.com/hunanawai http://myworld.ebay.com/jinghuashei Those are some of the biggest counterfeit sellers on Ebay! :goof: So I hope there isn't anyone here lame-brained enough to bid on anything this seller is peddling! Ribbit
Haha - I am a total amateur when it comes to collecting and I wouldn't touch those coins with a 10 foot pole. I mean just look at what the guy is selling, almost 100% of it is $5 crap, then he just happens to have 4 KEY date coins which, oh by the way just happen to have been acid dipped and cleaned etc. LOL. Get real. On a side note I may actually be buying a 42/41 Mercury dime here very soon, is there anything in particular to look for on these to help determine authenticity? Thanks! J
Something does seem fishy he has a 1916 d mercury dime also that is only going for $224 and only 1 1/2 hours to go then this question was posted with the seller dodging the question and not answering him about them being real Q: Hi, Are your 1916D dime, 1942/41 dime, 1916S half, and 1921D half genuine, or fakes, or something else? Thanks, KENJul-05-09 A: They are what I said they are. The local Coins shop said they were as I described in the description. "I was told (by a local coin dealer) that these coins have been acid cleaned, refurbished and then aged. They are only good for fill-in for collection and conversation piece. They have lost most of their value to purest collectors or people buying for investments". They are not prefect for true collector. Sorry could not be more help - Curt
Grade this one... I feel sorry for whoever is bidding "only" $224 for that or any of those other coins... That guy is making a killing - I would be suprised if that seller has got $15 invested in all of those coins including the acid he used to clean them and the shipping from China... Not to mention he is totally avoiding the question and positioning himself so he can pass the blame to the "coin dealer" who said they had been cleaned... total scam. What do you guys think of this coin? I have not seen it in person yet but from other items the seller is offering I have no reason to believe it is a fake. If I get it I am going to send it in to get graded, What do you all think of the grade/value? It definitely appears to be XF+ to me but it is hard to tell...
Sad Very Sad... that E bay allows this.... Yeah from day one its aways been buyer beware......but the way I see this mess is sumed up as follows "The king has losted his kingdom.....and all the peasants are now the gypsys in his palace! " Just out of control....:hammer:
This is my favorite 42 over 41 dime. I can't believe he couldn't sell it! http://cgi.ebay.com/1942-over-1941-...c0.m14&_trkparms=65:13|66:2|39:1|293:1|294:50
Now I'm wondering just how difficult would it be to stamp a 2 over the 1. If China can make coins that fool some experts, why not a 2 over 1 Merc?
