Just Sayin' Thanks!

  1. Dear All,

It's been a long rough couple years. This coin hobby is helping. My wife and I started this coin thing cause we received them after her mother & father passed away not long apart from each other. Then, Covid hit, which put me out of work to this day. BUt thank God, my wife is still working—but in healthcare at a hopsital in NYC. So, needless to say, it's been tense/stressful. But we've dodged that damn covid so far, and thank God, my wife JUST finally got vaccinated.

Anyway, this has been a great new community for me while I'm home, with lots of friendly folks to have even a little socialization while I'm here each day (no kids, but thinking of getting a puppy as a pal). The coins pass the time & it's an enjoyable thing to do. And WOW, I'm learning so much!

So, I just wanted to say a quick thanks to all of you, who have been interacting with me & answering all of my stupid newbie questions with patience and clarity. Maybe one of these days I'll post a "HEY LOOK AT THIS; LOOK WHAT I FOUND!!!!!" message to everyone. And be the envy of you all!!! Woot!

    thanks,
    a newbie stuck at home

We're glad you're here! Hang in there -- the new normal is likely to be different, but it will get better.

Glad to have you here! Any chance your profile picture is the 'L' on Wabash Ave in Chicago?

@RIchard Abanes Glad to hear you are both doing well. On the puppy-Said with respect but with conviction...I know of being lonely but please do not get a puppy without some long, serious thinking. A pet is a life long endeavor and not one to be taken lightly. Please do not get one, just to find out if you go back to work, and there will be no one at home to care of of it. It will break the heart of any puppy to get left back in circulation, not having a home once again. They may recover in another good home but they will also be wondering where you went for the rest of their lives. They are more sentient than many would believe.

  10. Nope That's the above ground subway in Astoria, NY. BUT..... I'm from Rockford, IL. and Chicago is my old stomping grounds as a teen.

  11. No worries, I am MOSTLY an at home worker, who goes out only now & then for short times. And when I do, it's to do things that will enable me to take my little pal with me. :)
