Granted it was/is hard to make out, but I can see the shadow of an S over the D. Did I finally find my first legit error coin? I'm not finding much info on this error, but I saw it mentioned somewhere or it wouldn't be on my check list.
Nevermind. I was apparently wasting my time looking for this one: 1980D-1OM-001 NOTE: THIS OMM HAS BEEN DEBUNKED BY ALL VARIETY EXPERTS. DUE TO THE EXAMINATION OF AN EARLY DIE STATE COIN, IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED THAT THIS IS IN FACT A SEIRES OF DIE GOUGES. IT IS SHOWN HERE FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY.
Yeah, I still see that dang S shadow. Although the one I see doesn't even match the one shown for the debunked 1980D-1OM-001. I guess if you want to see it bad enough, you will see it! ha.
I just dropped my coin in some taco sauce to clean it up. If the S shadow survives, I'll post another image of it.
Turns out it was a scratch, that once cleaned, started looking more like an A than an S. I'm not holding my breath for an A over D error to be announced. ha. I'm down to my last 1000 or so pennies, hope I find something soon.
