I just got this from eBay. These are the sellers pictures but I will get my own when it arrives. Please guess the grade and value and I will post the auction tomorrow.

Nice coin.. I will go MS 64 maybe a 65 if I had it in hand.. Couple of marks on the face ...

From the pics I Cant tell how bad the marks are, but it looks like a great Morgan. Looks like the devices are pretty frosty, cant tell if the marks on the face are bagmarks, or just frost breaks. I would say a 64, but if they are only frost breaks I would say 65.

I bought it assuming they were frost breaks but there would be more marks that the pics didn't really show. I would be really happy if it were a 64 and blown away if it were a 65 for the price I got it at.

I'll bet ya, you have some "bag" marks on that, unfortunately they may be primarily on the cheek. Nonetheless, it's still a very frosty coin. i don't think you would have a problem picking up 64 money on that even with a minor hit or two on the cheek. Hopefully that will be the coin that is sent to you. Nice pickup!

The abrasions on the face/cheek look pretty bad to me. I'd be very surprised if the coin is better than MS63, and a MS62 wouldn't surprise me in the least.

tough to determine how severe the cheek hits are, without better photos. I see one for sure.

I'd say MS 63. The luster and strike looks good for an O mint coin. $25-$30.

Below the ear on the cheek there is a whole lot of markings there, I say you cut those marks in half, and you have a 64, but I am thinking this would grade at a 63, and I think a TPG would grade it the same. Even though those fields on the reverse are clean, you stated they were sellers pics, so I am awaiting your pics to see if you can prove me wrong on my grade, or if I can see more bag marks on the reverse to better help the 63 grade.

i'm thinking they are forst breaks tmoney, as I said, when he gets the coin in hand, and we get better photo's, we will see what and how severe they are.

I say ms63 too. Ive bought coins that looked like that and sent some to PCGS.

Why would you submit a coin like that for grading? Even if it were to come back 64 (which I don't think this one will) the difference in value between a PCGS64 and what you could get for it as is, doesn't make up for the grading and postage fees.

On top of that, it's been a while since I've seen the pop reports at NGC but in 63,64 grades these usually number in the 10's of thousands. There's no shortage of slabbed ones to choose from and eliminate the hassle.

One problem I see in trying to find a 'perfect', loose, Morgan on ebay is that the Chinese counterfeits normally have a very clean cheek and fields. There's so many now, and they're so good that I don't believe anybody could tell the difference looking at a picture on the computer. Especially if they toned it or use bad lighting.

So if you got a really cheap deal on a raw Morgan that was extremely clean and would go 65, what did you really buy? No way of knowing anymore.

Well maybe he was hoping for a 65?
This is why it is important to know your series, and know how to accurately grade that series.
Instead of fussing around, and leaping through hoops and getting raw coins slabbed, I'd rather buy my coins pre slabbed, for my registry set. Cheaper and easier.

I didn't think he was hoping for a 65 because he said "I say ms63 too. Ive bought coins that looked like that and sent some to PCGS." That sounds like he submitted coins that he thought looked like 63's, but maybe I misunderstood the post.

Well maybe it was meant like this: I bought coins that look like that, and they came back MS63
Meaning he bought coins like that, sent them in, and thought they may grade higher, and they didn't and he is using his personal experiences to grade the coin.

I agree, , even up to MS65 isn't worth submitting.

    Well, I disagree there.
I think MS65's are worth submitting, but lower than that, is better to buy pre-slabbed.
I would have no problem paying a nice 63/664 price for a 65, and submitting it. I guess it depends on the year/mint mark

so $75.00 63/64 money, and you would submit for a potential 65 grade ( value $140 ) ? well, for me I would not deem that a justifiable expense for the return. But that's just me.

I say spending $75 coin and expenses, for a value of $140, I would do it, that is just me.
