Dateless Wheatie?

I have never seen anything like this. As you can see, the color looks off and there are some unusual scratches; however, I do not see any scratches that indicate the date was removed. In fact, the scratches seem to validate that there wasn't any form of alteration. Has anyone ever seen a wheat cent without a date?

I personally have never seen a dateless wheatie but that does not mean it does not exist. My thoughts are that your wheatie is pretty well worn and if you had a weak strike it may have worn off. ?? Maybe altered.. Someone will jump in here probably with some more information as to your dateless wheatie...

I have a partially dateless, 194 -s, I assumed it was a filled die error, maybe yours also is a filled die?

I would say it was a very weak strike to begin with and with circulation wear the date deteriorated to nothingness. what is the reverse like?

What you may have is a struck through, probably grease coin. Never seen it as severe as this.

The reverse is weak in areas. There is, IMO, less detail than ususal on the wheat stalks for the condition and a few letters are blurry (the U in united and the ES in states).

struck thru a greased die, most likely.
Or, post mint damage, filed off.

but, Mike will give us the final word.

This is a die adjustment strike since it;s that servere on both sides of the coin I doubt it's a greased filled die the obverse is more obvious of this.

Another coin with a struck thru. Looks like it had it's effect on some of the letters also.

The first coin is a die adjustment strike the second one is more of a greased filled die not as intence as the first coin that's why it's a greased filled die.

Looks like someone at the Chinese Counterfit got interupted before they decided what date to make.
