decided to carry this with me for a while (no joke y'all, I am serious about this one): muhahaha...time to jack this proof up: stainless
Just remember that the proofs are a LOT harder than the circulation strikes, due to the extra pressure and double striking used to mint them. I have a proof 1776-1976 half that I use as an occasional pocket piece, and, other than tons of hairlines on the polished fields, it doesn't show any actual wear yet. :crying:
For one, it is my birth year. I wanted something nice in size. Also, I thought it'd be cool to have a worn down proof. If I had older proofs, I'd keep those My first choice was a Morgan or Peace, but in my world those are mid-end coins, even the damaged junk silver ones..lol. So I decided on this one because it was cheaper also. stainless
