Hello, I purchased this token today from a local dealer and cant find any info on it. It is a CA HART Moundsville W.VA. token I would guess it was a scrip token for a store there. I was wondering if anyone knew any info about the token such as rarity or year it was produced. It has the Ingle mark and 1914 on it as do many scrip tokens. Also does anyone know of any sites similar to this one that deals with tokens and medals? Thanks for any help.

This may help. : ) "The typical usage for tokens in a general store such as this, were to pay farming families for goods, such as eggs, milk, cheese, fence posts, etc. They were also used to extend credit, which simplified bookkeeping. Frank Lugert and Mark Sauerberg jointly operated a liquor store southwest of the business district of Lugert, and it is possible that the tokens were used there. (The liquor store / saloon was in business sometime between 1901 and 1905, predating the 1914 date stamped on the tokens, but there remains the possiblity that some liquor was available to locals after the 1914 date.)" Wow, this is the first time I haven't found an Ingle token listed in my Ingle token reference. I even checked many other names in case that really wasn't an "H", like Kart, Mart, Nart, Rart, Wart & Xart, but no luck on any of them.
I have been doing a lot of looking trying to find the token as well but so far I have nothing. I know several collectors in the Moundsville - Wheeling area and nobody has seen this one before. If I find any more info i will post it. Thanks again
I do not know if Lloyd Wagaman is still alive or not, but he is the author of "A Checklist and Aid To Attributing Ingle System Script". If he is still active, he may be able to provide some insight. My ref. was published in 1987 by the Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio - Token and Medal Society. The TAMS society may be another helpful source.
Still no info on that token but today I picked up another Ingle token I am not having much luck with either I started a nother thread with it.
