Double struck Atocha 8 Reale

    Just wanted to share this 8 Reale from the Atocha. Please don't tell me it's Machine doubling!:vanish: This is a grade A coin one of the first to be salavaged from the Atocha in 1985 by Mel Fisher & Crew.Reign Philip lll Potosi mint Assayer Q = Agustin de la Quadra 1613-1616 Greek Cross 1571-1652 Potosi & Lima Mints.     Lol, it is definatly not machine doubling. It is actually pretty common to find doubling on medieval pieces...

    Thanks guys I like it one day when I get the time to find the pictures on the puter ... I'll put up pictures of Mel fisher the day he found the Atocha... huge party with Jimmy Buffett on the mother ship ...all were having a good time. I also have a coin from the Johanna ship wreck off of S.A. This is a great story of a ship that went down off of the tip South Africa. I purchased this coin from a young ship capt. who was Mel Fisher Capt. when they found the Atocha. Paddy
