What a beautiful historic coin. John Hull, mintmaster, was the father in law of Judge Sewall of Salem witch trial fame. The legend goes that Hull's daughters dowery was her weight in pine tree shillings!

Very nice coin. I don't know much about colonials but that is a beauty for sure. Thanks for sharing.

That is a really, really nice example, Eduard; you have a killer early type set going! Keep up the good work(fun)!

Eduard, Nice Noe 16 I saw your shilling as I was browsing the colonial messages. I was stationed in Mannheim back in 86-89 Love your country. Good luck collecting.

    Thank you very much, K9coper.
Did you ever attend the Patrick Henry Village coin shows at the big US Army base in Heidelberg? It was a very lively event, with a surprising number of dealers, both US and germans. I miss those.

    oak tree shilling

    Eduard,
I never made it to a coin show in Hidelberg but I did frequent the dealer that was located in the old section of the city. I now have a question for you I recently purchased an Oak tree shilling PCGS VF 20. They had it listed as a Noe 5. I do not believe that it is I think it is a Noe 13.6 or 13.9. I did not buy it from the auction but with some help from the internet I located the coin. I have the site which I have attached. If you have any ideas pass them along. Thank you for your help.
