    Hey everyone,

Looking at this cent it looks like most the letters have some kind of doubling and lincoln as well. Is this what is called maschine doubling ?

Also this one penny 1919H could anybody explain that ?

    Best regards

The Americsn cent you have machine doubling on the foriegn coin I would say some kind of planchet problem, as far as value on your coins the cent is considered a error but not valuable the foriegn coin not sure if there's value on that one.

Hi, the US cent, as JC said: Mechanical/Strike doubling.

The British Penny: That is the remnant from a clashed die.
I presume that it is Edward on the obverse?
You can match his head to the design on the reverse.

Well, I don't know about common, but I have seen it before.

    However, two things:
    1) yes it is an error.
    2) unless it was a high grade I doubt that anyone would pay a premium for it.
But! It is not damage, so don't let some try to say it is.
    3) Interesting piece and good for study.

I was thinking it to be 'ghosting' because the portrait used on early George V coins featured a large head in high relief, there was more metal displaced into the obverse than into the reverse. This often resulted in a 'shadow' or 'ghost' of the head design showing on the reverse and also a general weakness of the reverse design.
