Details???? Any details??? Like did you find it in a mint roll or a bank roll? How many rolls did you search before you found one?
In case anyone doesn't know what is being talked about, look here: http://www.coinlink.com/News/us-coins/bootstrap-error-lincoln-cents-in-circulation/ Ribbit
Hey everybody look, it is more modern crap that sells a tremendously high premium for no reason! Lets all celebrate! Drinks on me
First roll. Funny, I don't collect coins but I spotted this error immediately. I think HCC and I are the only ones with them.
I'm glad I'm not the only one having a problem with the prices of some of the new stuff. :goof: I figure I'll let everyone pay the outrageous prices for them while I scarf up all the really old good stuff and in a couple of years, their new stuff will go down in value and continue a downward spiral, while mine will continue to go up. I saw one this weekend at a coin show. I don't remember the asking price. but, what is everyone's guess as to the current value?
Value? I guess it will always be worth one cent, unless you can find someone willing to pay a premium. I purchased a few of them(probably paid way too much!). I just wanted an initial position in them in case they do turn out to be of significance. But it looks like the company that had a posted article on the Bootstraps has been auctioning them off one after another on Ebay. After i purchased one sellers complete listed bootstrap inventory, i noticed that even more of the coins were listed(So they must be awful common-at least in some boxes of penny rolls anyway.). The formative(P) boxes of 50 rolls have been coming down in price. Many are selling in the $100.00 a box range($25.00 face). Many of the dealers in Coinworld's July 6th issue were selling bank rolled Formatives in the $8 to $10.00 range. At $10.00 a roll, that would translate to $500.00 a box! Wow! With all of the error coins i don't look for them to drop much under $2 a roll, at least that was my reasoning for purchasing a few boxes!:smile
Bootstrap. Sorry to disappoint you, but i also have a few! So you don't collect coins, you just like to talk about them? If HCC was so impressed with them, i wonder why they are selling so many of them off?
Older silver coins! The older silver coins would take off if the silver price rises . $13.00 plus silver is'nt enticing much buying(Buyers feel better if the silver price rises, then they buy?). Sounds flawed to me anway!
This should answer your question: http://completed.shop.ebay.com/item...SALE_CURRENCY=0&_sop=12&_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_rdc=1 Ribbit
