Unsure how I feel about the authenticity of this coin. While the observe appears unc, the reverse does not, it appears to be worn but no indication of circulation as if struck that way. and the strike of the eagle on the reverse is super weak to boot. No pic of the edge either. Seller is new, but has other coins listed, but most appears to be telejunk. What do yall think of this coin? Is it authentic? or another fake? https://www.ebay.com/itm/1796-Draped-Bust-Silver-Dollar-Small-date-small-letters-small-eagle-15-Stars/124562262205?hash=item1d007d48bd:g:ULAAAOSwUIRgHsQq
>Coin is in very good shape and is a rare version of this series. Thx I didn’t know! >Worth much more than the asking price. Oh really? >Shipped with USPS First Class. Errrmm... what a cheapskate! Ever heard of FedEx?
When you have the chance, you should down load a picture and post it here so that everyone can see the counterfeit before it gets taken down on eBay. There were a couple of bad 1796 dollars that cropped up for sale this week. I saved the pictures, but my desk top in the shop and I don't have access to the photos. Here are photos of one of the bad 1796 dollars that has been offered in the past. This is not same one, but it's one of the counterfeits that has been offered over the past couple of years. If Ms. Liberty is off-center as she is on this piece, it's bad. The off-center variety only appeared with the date 1795.
This is the picture of the obverse from the auction. It is one of the off-center bust fakes (I suspect a Vampire Hub coin but I don't see the fang marks.) Not sure why image isn't showing. It does appear in preview. Been having a lot of problems with this lately. One more try I give up, here is a link to the image https://thumbs3.ebaystatic.com/d/l1600/pict/124562262205_1.jpg
