I supplemented my Thai note collection with some contemporary notes, starting with the 1000 Baht note toward the bottom of this page. I found an ATM that consistently issued consecutive serial number 1000 Baht notes! I had a set of 20 and a set of 10 consecutive serial numbers, but you guys know how it is - You can't keep everything of interest! If anyone wants any circulated coins, I have plenty! If anyone wants any notes, I'm going back to Thailand in August.
I can read some of the words - On the obverse is: จุพ้าลงกรณ้ which is "Chulalongkon" (King Rama V). Also: สยามนทร์ which is "Siam" and another word.
I am resurrecting this thread because I am now in Thailand searching for currency. I bought two sets for about $9 USD containing 20 Asian notes. The first set contained: 1979 10 Kip note from Laos 2006 1 Ngultrum note from Bhutan 1979 0.2 Riels (2 Kak) note from Cambodia 2002 1 Afghanis note from Afghanistan 2001 200 Riels note from Cambodia 1990 1 Kyat note from Myanmar 1993 10000 Afghanis note from Afghanistan 2002 50 Riels note from Cambodia 1997 5 Kyat note from Myanmar 1972 25 Kyat note from the Union Burma Bank 1996 1 Kyat note from Myanmar 1987 200 Dong note from Vietnam 1979 100 Kip note from Laos 10 Rupees note from The Japanese Government 1979 20 Kip note from Laos 1972 1 Kyat note from the Union Burma Bank 1972 50 Riels note from Cambodia 1994 50 Pyas note from Myanmar 1993 10 Tugrik note from Mongolia 1991 1000 Afghansi note from Afghanistan The second set contained: 1988 500 Kip note from Laos 1993 10 Tugrik note from Mongolia 1991 1000 Afghansi note from Afghanistan 1988 500 Dong note from Vietnam 1991 500 Afghanis note from Afghanistan 1983-1984 5 Rupees note from Pakistan 1982 1 Taka note from Bangladeshi 1979 10 Kip note from Laos 2005 20 Tugrik note from Mongolia 2001 100 Riel note from Cambodia [Unidentified] - very small, about 4 inches long with Chinese characters 2005 20 Tugrik note from Mongolia 1979 20 Kip note from Laos 1993 10 Tyin note from Kyrgyzstan 1985- 100 Rials note from Iran 1993 50 Mongo note from Mongolia 1988 1000 Dong note from Vietnam 1982- 200 Rials note from Iran 2000 20 [Unidentified] note 1992 25 [Unidentified] note I picked up two older Thai note (I haven't categorized them yet), and I found a source for these beautiful notes: Commemorative Banknote on the Auspicious Occasion of Her Majesty the Queen's 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary 12 August 2004 60 Baht (1987) (King Rama IX 60th Birthday Commemorative) Commemorative note for the King's 60th Anniversary on the Throne I found a Cambodian set of currency and coins, and two sets of Thai coins: First set Second set This is the reverse of the second set. The first set was about $9 USD, and the second was about $15 USD. Then, there's current Thai currency...
