The pic is of the reverse of a 2005P cent I found today. Can anybody tell me if there have been any of these found this year and exactly which years have this type of wavy step been found? Thanks.
Hey Murphy, I'm not really seeing much of this "wavy step" thing, but according to John Wexler, I think it is, it looks like you have found what he has classified as a doubled column cent. See the "extra" strip of metal directly in the space between Lincoln and the column to his left? I've heard it's classified as a doubled column. Good find! ~AJ
"im-big-ulator machine"??? Sorry Pete, not familiar with that term. But I hope it means that you like my photos. AJM229, if you look at the top several rows of steps you should see strong waves all across the small steps and a wave on the large steps to the left. This is probably the most wavy step variety that I am aware of. But of course, I'm no expert and am the one asking the questions. Is there a LIST of wavy steps somewhere?
Thank you very much. I actually ran across two varieties of wavy steps. Here's another shot of the major variety and a photo of the minor variety:
I tried to find it and all I could come up with at Coneca was the DDR with the columns doubled into the Memorial bays. The columns also came down as lines into the steps, I may not have been able to find what you're talking about. I found a much better example of what I think you're talking about at http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/dietype.php?date=1994&die_mint=p&die_type=dr&page=0 look at the middle example, 1994P-1DR-002. The waviness is eerily similar, however, the spread there is to the southeast. The spread on the 2005P that I found is to the southwest.
i never noticed that there was a little lincoln figure in the back of the penny (never cared for pennies much =P), when i saw this pic i thought it was probably a new penny style, then i picked up a 1998 penny and saw it there lol... and i call myself a coin collector =P
