1844/81 Lg cent

Hello friends it's me again with another weird coin. I know you PROS have bigger/better but I just wanted to show my piece of the pie. This to me is a weird one not REALLY an error I was told but still odd. Take a look and lets talk about it.

First off, 44 overdate struck on an 81 makes no cents. More possibly 44/01 ore more likely 44/43, but I see no evidence of this. It is probably a reworked die, but???

wow thank you Paddy for the ref. pic looks like the person I bought it from stole the pic. I got lazy and used his. This is a few pics I just took with the date near it on a post it. Thanks friend for the lesson on Trusting someone else pictures. You are very good at what you do.

 

it's in the red book. I had to research it too weird thing going on at the mint at the time I guess.

 

Good catch and information, way to much mis information being posted .

 

Another cool over date is the 1847 /7 as the underlaying 7 is smaller and diferent type style. Let me see if I can find mine or a good example to post.
