Notice how the D is really clear and high relief on this coin compared to the other letters because the crud has just fallen out. Is there an E on your coin that looks different?
Notice the first bill the number one is a fake compared to the real bill. The first bill is fake cash dude. the second bill is real cash. Get the point i;m making about the E on the OP's coin now. JC DID YOU EVERY MAKE TYPING ERRORS CASH DUDE? ,OR ARE YOU PERFECT? jc
This must be the friendly manner you were speaking of. This is the typical manner he has in his answers when he's called on an incorrect answer.
By the looks of the strike on your coin, the 'E' was the only letter that was filled and then dropped the letter before this strike. IMHO.
You are known for your ways remember Isahia ,and if you read the post and try to understand what i was trying to say maybe you could comprehend it and cash dude was being sarcastic, and I' don;t feel like i'm incorrect the E was placed there it's so obvious even Mike has his doubts so now you are going against Mike diamonds opinion.and Jessash just send the coin into Mike you are better off clear your mind . JC Jazzcoins Joe OH I edited again
rockdude, Well if you won't, then I will! I know that sometimes I get miffed when I think I am correct about something but get proved wrong. It is something I try not to do but we are all human! However, I can't understand this constant "I am right, you are wrong, you mis-understood me" by a certain person, even when everything points to the fact that they are incorrect. The constant hammering of their' views and points to where a one to two page Thread gets drawn out into a five page Tug-of-War of words, is very distracting from the subject and in not condusive to helping newbies or the OP of the Thread. It seems that any help that we try to give to an Op of a Thread, just gets lost in all of the banter! This is one of the reasons that I have shied away from C.T. from time to time and lend my help elsewhere! Frank
How was I being sarcastic? The D on the quarter is obviously clearer than the other letters, so it pretty much confirms that the dropped letter is real. The original guy's pics did not show all of the E's, so we could not see if it was similar to the quarter. Another interesting thing is that the dropper letter on the quarter is slightly larger than the actual letter. This is probably because the gunk that falls out compresses slightly during the strike. It would be cool if you could send it in to an expert so we can settle this.
I know you are refering to me ,when a person on here keeps asking me why did you ediit again, and ask me foolish questions and throw bad remakes it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Now my whole purpose of helping the OP' out is not to give false hope about a coin that's not a real error until it;s examined, and every individual has different views about a certain specimen that somebody will post. To prolong a thread is when there are debates going on which you think is a tug of war ,and that is perfectly a normal thing to do ,debate. The only way to determine a error like this is to send it in to a person that knows what he is looking for and this particular specimen indeed needs in hand examination To get technical, we all know how individuals will try and make a fake and put it in circulation just for the heck of it ,to try and fool us . I feel this particular coin is not an authentic dropped letter and I will stick by my opinion , Mike diamond has stated the coin needs to be examined in person but Mike does have his doubts, and I do to ,But huntsman you seem like you are questioning Mikes expertise ,so you are prolonging the thread to, and debating his opinion/ I hope Mike does get this coin from the OP and solve this.I myself would love to look at this coin in person Thank you Joe:smile
Measurements are always better than an eyeball assessment. So I will happily concede Huntsman's point and tentatively agree that the incuse E is probably a dropped letter from UNITED, STATES, or AMERICA. I'm always happy to be proven wrong.
Mike, Thanks for the quote of confidence! However, I cannot guarantee the measurements that I made as I was comparing the "E" on the OP's coin and an "E" on a coin from my' pocket to the "T's" in Cent on the same. It seems that a dropped Letter from any Letter on the Die could vary fairly significantly in size and thickness depending how much or how little buildup of debris accumulates in the receipient Letter before it falls out! To say that unequivocally that it is a Dropped Letter, would be a tough call! Frank
This is a contradictory statement ,to the statement you made in post 74 and you really can't go on measurements in a photo which you stated also in post 74, there's no way you could get an accurate assessment on it, hand on inspection is the only way to solve this mystery of the so called dropped E. JC JC
JC, I believe that this subject has been run into the ground and to "drop a few letters", can we please "drop the subject"!!!????? Frank
