Good for you!! Guess you were in the right place at the right time. Incidentally, exactly what time did you sign on to place that order? I couldn't even get a "place order" button until after 2:30 p.m. MDT, which was just about the same time I finally got through via phone! Both my phone and on-line orders were back-ordered by that time.
It was 3:30 Central time or 2:30 MDT! I just happened to be reading everyones posts and out of curiosity I wanted to see how long it would take. Didn't even have any intentions on getting the Marine proof $1 when I started. With my cable modem it zipped right through, I about fell off my chair. So, I figured since I had went that far I might as well go ahead hit the button and get one. I am waiting to see if they do come out with a 2-piece set. I would be more interested in that set than the Legacy set or the cardboard sets with coins stuck in them!
I received an email from the Mint today acknowledging my order that I mailed in. 1. MARINE CORPS SILVER PROOF COIN (5C1) 2 @ $35.00 - Backordered 10/20/05. So I got my order in fairly painlessly, but I'm still not getting it until October. Sigh.
It's a good thing that the mint has a monopoly. Because no other Company would stay in business very long with their phone service & web site. The whole thing is a joke. Any other Co. will tell you to please stay on the line & the next avaliable operator will be right with you. NOT the government THEY tell you to go away, we're too busy now!!
I've said pretty much the same thing before. They don't care about customers and they don't are about quality. I can't believe that the ANA is not interested in lobbying Congress to institute some kind of reform. The collectors are held hostage by the mint.
I'll be checking again in the next few days but I have a hunch that the ship date on the web site is bogus. It looks like what I'm seeing for the ship date on the Westward Journey Coin & Medal sets right now. They have a routine they run every night on the server that automatically advances the date by one more day, every day, in order to stay two weeks ahead from today (actually about 15 days). It's gotten so common and ordinary that I've become accustom to seeing it...yawn...

The only outfit worse in treatment of their clients to the ANA is the US Mint. IMO
Mint orders awaiting shipment I now have 7 orders in with the US Mint awaiting shipment. Some has been in process for months. Something has gone wrong with their new system of releasing items earlier in the year. Jim
