2 1889 Double Florin Questions.

    I was given this today...

    1 - What is that black mark in the top left had of the coin.

    Its not a scratch or dent as far as I know.

    2 - Whats the silver content of the coin.

    Ive searched all over I cant find any numbers.

    1. crayon, tar, grease, permanent marker?
    2. .925 silver - Actual Silver Weight is 0.6727 oz.

    Check other side - VICTORIA - is 2nd I actually an upside-down 1?
    It makes the coin worth more than a 2 I'ed Victoria.

    I already did....its just 2 normal Is...but the 2nd I is a little strange, it like as a crack at the bottom...though it doesnt look like the other Is, it does look more like an I than a 1.

    And its not crayon either lol..Its like paints been scratched off, but its not a scratch.

    Use the other I's and 1 on the coin for comparison. DEI & GRATIA as well as BRITT: & FID: and 1889.

    My daughter said the mark looked like paint to her.

    I did look at the others....I aint dum.

    Still, seems more like an I to me.

    Good, we don't need no dum people here. ;)

    What source did you use for the 2 I'd Victoria info? I'm always looking for more references on the multitudes of British coins. If it was online would you post a link?

    Yeah It was online, I coulnt tell you the site though.

    I just typed in '1889 Double Florin' in google and was going through all the sites and read that.
