Not too many dupondii in my collection as I mostly gravitate toward silver

I also like dupondius, you tend to get emperor action scenes, and if you sacrifice your standards (like having too many drinks on Saturday night) you can find some nice examples.

  15. Severus Alexander

Severus Alexander find me at NumisForums

Lots of first and second century dupondii in this thread, but only one third (from Doug). Let me add some more later examples:

It seems Elagabalus didn't issue very many:
    Screen Shot 2021-02-06 at 10.44.11 AM.jpg

Severus Alexander's mysterious Restitvtor Mon – a type only seen on the dupondius – may have had something to do with redressing this, as his reign sees a big uptick in dupondii:
    Screen Shot 2021-02-06 at 10.44.45 AM.jpg

... but that uptick only starts a ways through his reign. Here's a scarce first (accession liberality) issue of SA:

    My avatar coin:

And finally a different Decius type from Doug's:

Dupondii of the later periods are harder to find than sestertii but less popular so often cheap unless high grade. I don't collect for grade.
