I'm going to try for 2 sets... one for me and one for eBay. I am a bit leery though, because no one is biting on the presale sets that are up on ebay, even at $155.00. Of course, it may be a bit early for that.
its not early for a presale I think this set will be a little expensive for most people so I dont think itll really take off
Could be, but its a moot point right now. I have a T1 connection and can't get to the website. They are pi## poor when it comes to doing business.
The are a TON of marines out there and its a tight-knit family. I'll count myself lucky if I can get one of these sets out of the mint.
I used the phone but press 2 instead of #1. This is for existing orders, they took my order no problem. ljkvette
I was finally able to get my order in at 12:39. That's about 10 minutes longer than it took me to get in and order the coin and medal set.
Just the good 'ol mint up to their same tricks taking advantage of people by selling way overpriced shiny souvenir pieces in fancy packages. I save myself a lot of frustration and avoid these "feeding frenzies" by sticking to coins that were actually made to get to the people by circulation means. I think people are becoming obsessed with commemoratives. Goes to prove what advertizing and presentation can do.
Well I saved my money today!!!...sorry guys...I just don't see how the sets are worth that much $$$....I hope for y'all that they go up a bit... Speedy
Legacy Set is not posted I phoned the mint yesterday approx 3 PM and placed my order. I received an email back with an order number. The email read that my Legacy Set was backordered. The problem is, that order has not yet posted to my 'order history' on the mint website. Anyone else having this same problems? Should I again phone the mint and see why it has not posted? Thanks, Jim
Jim, are you actually typing your order number in the box or are you looking at all of your order history and then looking for the link? If you ordered your set over the phone, there will not be a link in your order history. You will need to manually type the order number in. Lewis
Speedy, as to why this set will go up..... Think of how many vehicles you see on the road with USMC stickers on them. Marines are a proud bunch and tighter knit than the other branches. "Once a marine, always a marine". I'm a military brat (child of) so I know these things first hand. The military community has made its own medals and tokens for given platoons, battalions, etc. for many decades. And those already have a growing collectors population. With a hard limit of up to 100,000 over the 4 product lines (unc, proof, legacy, postage), the demand for a US minted silver coin with the USMC symbol on one side will be....and remain, very high. I bought some to sell mainly so I can have a set for myself basically free. Now, will this set go as high as the 1995 W SAE? Who knows. But it wouldn't suprise me in the least.
PS, I guess the mint was feeling guilty for screwing up so bad. My web order has been upgrade to "expidited" shipping free of charge.....if the ever send them at all
