The coin is a 1878, a mistake was made in the title of this thread.

They know the difference between 'strike doubling vs. doubled die'. They would say 'doubling' then.

That's why they have EDS and LDS the different stages of a die. I thought you would know that.

When there are round and distorted images with notching on the letters and doubling on both sides of the coin with very mushy like apearance

Well since the letters on the coin aren't 'very mushy' I guess that your description doesn't fit now does it.

Now that is the termnology for Deteriorating doubled die right not regular die deterioration doubling you have to read.
