At my trip to the bank today i found a 1985 note G00711881H in good condition. Not worth alot, but i really like finding pre 1995 notes! I am completely speechless as to how my finding star notes has come to a screaming halt! in $300 $1 notes today, i found 1 star, the note is a 2003 A01177097* in good/vg. I also found 2 trinary notes that i decided to keep. I do find alot of others, but rarelty keep them. A 2006 L41004001G in very good, and 2006 A33337788A in very good. Neither are worth anything, but i did like the serial numbers lol I think i have searched well over 100,000 in $1 notes over the years. If a radar happens every 10,000 notes or so ... i should have found more then a few the radar i found today is only my 2nd radar EVER found in circulation. A 2003A L58788785D in very good. I also found two 7 digit radars today. I didnt keep either, but it did get my hopes up really high of finding more then 1 8 digit radar
Do you call before you go up to the bank asking for $300 in 1's? They looked at me weird when I asked for $200 in 1's. I told them right before I left I was going to the strip club just to get a weird look from them :goofer:
I normally only get $200, today i did get the 'please call ahead speech' but it was from the head teller, and she always says that (even though i never do lol) I have had a few tellers ask me what the 1's are for, some ask if its for a yard sale .... i just tell them i like to search through them for star notes or older notes - i tell them that in case they are interested in keeping any they find for me at my sell to back, i get asked by the different tellers, the ones who dont allready know me where i get all the 1's. Some ask about the yard sale, others ask if i am a waiter... i just tell them i got them from the bank up the road and that with the money they give me, i will go back for more lol
Daggarjon, I figure I've still gone through a lot more paper money than you have and I have only found two radars so you're ahead of me dude! Good job. A 7 digit radar? A guy around here used to call them sonars as they were close. clembo
congrats on the radar find out of circulation. working at the bank i handle so much money but dont have time to look at them all i dont know how many radars i must have passed up. keep the hunt going:thumb:
Congrats Daggarjon on the Radar. They're so hard to find it's definitely a cool feeling when you finally find one. I usually ask for $200 at a time though sometimes $300. Only once has someone given me a bad time about asking for so many ones. Most tellers around here don't seen to bat an eye when I ask. They do ask occassionally what I want them for and I say stars and special serial numbers. One time two other tellers over heard my explanation of what a star note was and all of a sudden the teller helping me and the 2 who overheard were looking through their tills looking for stars (they found only 1). They had never heard of them before. Another teller I've befriended has also begun setting aside for me any star notes she comes across. This had definitely made getting stars in the higher denominations much more accessible.
thanks for looking everyone Clembo ... you are right... i guess i shouldnt complain lol finding 2 is more then alot of folks who have gone through alot more then i have! I am very happy with the 2 i have... i dug them both out last night just to take a look at them the way i see it ... if i am behind the average, as are most other folks on this forum .... where is the guy that is way ahead of the average? lol
Congrats....keep it up.....one day, I'll find my first 1$ star.....(of course, I'm not dedicated to it like you and usually search coins not notes) What is a "trinary" note?
bobbeth .. i trust you will 1 day find a star... IF you are looking a trinary is a note which has a serial that only uses 3 digits. a binary uses only 2 digits ... a note that usues only 1 digit doesnt really have a special name.. but boy are they saught after
Thanks Daggarjon......always an education. I look for stars now and on occation, get a stack of ones. And BTW, you can call me "Bob."
