I wonder that myself! I am almost certain that the coin at the link that pennywise provided, is not the same coin! On the coin at the link, there is no evidence of where the corrosion has eaten away at the Copper Plating on the inside of the rim on the Obverse and quite a few other details that just don't fit. This is the "What's it worth" forum, so pennywise was probably just showing the original poster an example of what a lower grade / damaged example of this coin would go for. I am anxious to see this coin get slabbed so we will know it is authentic. If authentic and undamaged, it should fetch a couple hundred more than the cleaned coin that pennywise showed.
You are right Cash, I found the coin shown in the link a couple days after original post, it's not the same coin. The coin did not sell, for whatever reason, I don't know. I too, would love to hear the status of the op's coin.
The 1992 D close AM. is back on Teletrade again. Didn't sell last time at $2000, maybe this time? http://www.teletrade.com/coins/lot.asp?auction=2702&lot=1249
I think I might have had the chance to purchase that coin raw at the KC monthly show. If someone knows the owner let me know. I offered $600 for it a few months back but the man knew what he had and I didn't want to fork out the big bucks for a damaged coin. Tom
I too have been searching diligently for one of these...congrats!!! Where did you find it? Yea Yea Yea for you!
