My uncle was stationed in Italy during WW2. He brought back a coin collection. One of the coins fascinated me as a child. It had a ship that appeared to be either sailing into or out of the coin. A more three dimensional style than is usually seen. The ship was a more modern type, not the type with sails. The collection has disappeared and the coin is gone. I would appreciate any help in identifying the coin. Any history? How much could I expect to pay? Where might I obtain one? Thanks for any info.
The coin was from Italy? Do you remember any other thing like the face value or any incription it had?
Sorry, I have no more information. It has been decades since I've seen the coin. It is possible that it isn't Italian. I know this isn't much to go on. I assume that it would be of little value and probably rather common. I just remember being fascinated that half of the ship protruded from the coin. Then again a childs memory can exaggerate things too. Thanks for taking an interest.
This is not a coin, but is as close to what you described as I can find. Take a look..........>>http://www.nmm.ac.uk/collections/explore/object.cfm?ID=MEC2298
