I thin this is some kind of die-clash. The "E" is same size as the one used in "States". What do you guys think?

It could be a dropped letter. Sometimes a letter or number in the die gets filled with grease/metal shavings gunk. When the gunk drops out, it sometimes falls on the next planchet and gets stamped in.

Looks like it was done intentionally dropped letters don't look like that post mint damage.

Here's what a dropped letter looks like raised image on a state hood quarter not incused. Is the E incused or raised? By the pic it looks incused.

That is still a pretty cool penny...ask a local coin dealer what he thinks. Someone went to a lot of trouble if it was done post mint...lol

It looks like a dropped letter, perhaps one of the 'E's from UNITED or STATES or AMERICA. Post mint, I don't think so.

Look at the distence between the E on the letters and then look at the E that;s incused a big difference in seperation. You don't Think so?

Why do you think that a dropped letter would be anything but incuse?
That photo you posted looks doctored.

That's a authentic photo it's from a statehood quarter dropped letter No they don't have to be raised all the time but i have my doubts about this one I'm pretty sure usually when you have a dropped letter there close to the same letter and you claim this is from the E in America. We know it's not from the E from Cents that's for sure.

Like you said 'usually'. The 'D' in your photo is incuse. And it's a 1976D 50c.

Ok no the D in the photo is raised are you trying to confuse me:confused::confused::confused:. Let me clear this up they could be incused or raised images.I still have my doubts about this one ,but you may be right Rockdude.

No, it's clearly a job you do well. Here's a clip from the article about the 50c piece and if you will notice is says 'incuse'.
"One of the most spectacular dropped letters that I have seen is the 1976-D Half Dollar photographed here; Note that on this example, the metallic dirt has fallen out leaving an incuse and inverted image of the letter ("D").

Don't be theatening people on this site. And dropped letters have been known to show up on the other side of the coin from which it originated.
