1999 Connecticut quarter missing clad?

    The anomalies on your coin are not EXACTLY the same as the other coin. If you understand the minting process, certain types of of errors/varieties such as filled dies, die cracks, doubled dies, etc, will have the EXACT appearance, because the coins were struck from the same die. This is one way to confirm the the coin left the mint in that condition

    Your coin has different coloring, as I mentioned, so it cannot be due to the striking or the planchet process. Your coin is environmentally damaged. The outer clad layers are 75%copper and 25%nickel. As evidenced by numerous metal detecting finds, clad Coins that have spent time in the ground will stain to a brown color similar to yours due to the copper content in the alloy
