2009 Lincoln Cabin Penny Error

    This is uncirculated from a federal mint roll. What kind of error is this. The pictures show a large circle shaped gash around almost the entire coin.

    It is a misadjustment of the coin counter or coin roller ( crimps the rolls if paper). So it is damage occurring outside the mint in the armor car company or maybe even some banks still do it also. Not considered an error, but damage. sorry.

    So this penny was most likely on the end of the roll, right?

    yes, it is caused when the counter machine crimps the paper to form the end of the roll.

    That's funny this is on here today. I just had the same question asked by a lady at my local store. It occurs when that coin is on the end of a roll of coins. The machine used to roll them does that to it. No premium for it.:cool:
