A lot of people didn't think that the 2004 or 2005 coin and medal sets were worth $20, but look where the prices are now.
The fact that you don't think the new set is worth $135 doesn't mean that eager buyers on eBay don't think it's worth a lot more than that :)
Buy three sets, sell two, and you'll probably make enough money that the third set you kept will be free.

According to Coin World, I was wrong about the mintmarks. All the "regular" coins will be S proof mintmarks but the commems will be P proofs. Here are links to larger images of the commems:

    John Marshall
    Marines

However, Coin World also said this was going to be a 10-coin set, which we all know is wrong since the two nickels will be included.

On the note of cost vs worth - I have to say that I think the $135 is gouging as well, since the total that the Mint sells these coins individually is less than the price on the set. However, this set's worth in the future could still be higher, in my opinion. Asside from the fact that this will be the first of the series issued, it also:
    1. will have the last two Westward Journey nickels and
    2. may be the only set issued with two nickels.

By the way, thanks for the link, nick66

Well guys I was wondering and I came up with this--- It would be the first issue and all but what about the price? Wouldn't this set be a set for the more richer part of the people? $135 is a lot for one set. Do you guys think this set will really take off with that kind of starting off price? I know the marine dollar will, but thats 1/3 the price.

The proof set is $40 making it 110, so the packaging is $25. It makes a nice set and if it takes off like some of the Prestige Sets, it will be well worth it. I have already heard talk that it could reach the level of the 95-W ASE. Granted, there will be 3 times as many out there, BUT the demand, because of the inclusion of the Marine Corps medal, may be 4 or 5 times as great. Then again, it could go nowhere.

I believe the proof set included in the Legacy Set is clad not silver, so the initial $23 reference was correct. Whether the packaging is estimated at $25 or $42, the short term value of the set will be determined by non-numismatic factors. The length of time it takes for the USM to sell out will have the biggest impact on the short term value. After that who knows.
