Hey gang!! I recently bought this coin out of an old collection raw (yikes I know right?). I was just packing it up to go to NGC and wanted to take a picture of it before I sent it off. This is what I came up with.
From those pics this is at least a PF68.... GOSH, REALLY I DON'T SEE ANY FLAWS! You think you have a PF70??? WOW! Can't wait to see, what it comes back at!
I don't know about that! hahah!! It'd be nice, it definitely is a nice coin but I was thinking more like a 65-66.
The devices don't look like they are frosty at all, are they pretty much the same color as the fields or is it just the photo? Very interesting and I'm curious how it will grade.
The degree of hairlines is usually the major determinant of the grade for Proof coins. And hairlines usually don't show up well, if at all in images. I would bet, just based on the odds and populations, that 1) the coin has obvious flaws (in the form of hairlines) and 2) grades nowhere near a 70. And that's even if it's a nice/quality example.
Would be nice to see this coin in hand. I'm not saying it would grade 70, and oh boy, that would really be something! But, I am very interested as to what this may come back as
Wow, beautiful Morgan. I don't have a lot of experience grading these proofs but it sure is clean looking...I can see a mid-60s grade. I'd love to hear what it comes back as.
Wow , that's three wows in a row , I'd say a 65 but hard to tell from a picture , are there many hairlines that don't show up , if there isn't you just might get that 66 , and a 65-66 Proof Morgan is a fine coin anyone would love to have . rzage
I would give it a PF 66 there are spotted areas on the cheek and near the hairlines there seems to be a nick in the nose unless it;s your pic a couple of flaws. JC
There is absolutely no way to provide a meaningful grade opinion for that coin based on those images. We have no idea how heavily (or lightly) hairlined it is.
shes a beaut! That would be one I would keep and not slab, 1039 1883 proofs, I would not be surprised if that came back as a 67, maybe they will send it back as a 63 just to make sure that you resubmit it?
The best part about this piece is the fact that there really aren't any noticeable hairlines on the piece, very very few. Not all early proofs came with frosted devices like they do now.
Dutch the third pic the reverse it looks cameo ,but i don't see it on the obverse is it a cameo what a beauty if it is ? The coin won't be a cameo if only one side of the coin is cameo both sides have to have the equal contrast to be considered a cameo coin JC
The reverse is what i'll call a "semi cameo" while the obverse isn't. It's kind of like a Morgan with a really nice proof like reverse and just a nice normal obverse.
WOW! This coin is amazing, after seeing those pics, I'd say at least PF65. This coin, is just...Well it is just WOW! I'd love to be able to own a proof morgan...Better start saving.. LOL
