Hm..not sure what those marks are on the observe right of her face..IS that loss of Mint Luster from contact?
reply It look's like a wave on the coin when it is in the hand But under a 30x 21 mm loupe it look's like a scrath
You have to be patient for people to find the thread. My grade is AU58 if there is any break in luster across the eagles wings - other MS63. The pictures are really too blurry to be any more accurate. I can't get a feel for weak strike versus wear on this puppy.
It looks lightly circulated, as in mid range AU condition, with a bad scratch. As such, it's worth just a small premium/few dollars over its silver content.
Doesn't have full mint luster, and the mint luster it has is minimal, and even though the cheek appears to be clean, I can see wear on the coin. I agree with the statements above, it being an AU58
ok dd: Ok i agree au58 but to be only worth the as silver content and being 126 year'old it has to be worth more than that
Well in AU58 it might be worth around $23-$25, but with that scratch it might only fetch silver value Now, about your comment about it being 126 years, and it has to be worth more... Not necessarily true There were 8,725,000 minted, and true not that many are still here today, but there is a good amount of that still here! Value has to do about mintage, demand, and survival rate. These have a high mintage, a relatively low demand, and a higher survival rate for compared to the coins in the series.
Not necessarily...this is a very common date. Plus, that scratch to the right of Liberty knocks it down quite a bit. It has AU details but that is considered damage and knocks the value down. I personally wouldn't pay much over melt for this coin and that's true of most collectors.
ok :crying: Ok i concor but when i got the coin it had a small bit of dust so as i have read on some other thread just rub a coin with a cotten clot and no harm will come that is so wrong guess i was wrong to belive such talk Ps thank you all very much i will start the fire for meltting Dave
Often, age isn't nearly as important as condition. Even in uncirculated condition, there are massive quantities of Morgn Dollars available. And like it or not, yours is worth only a few dollars more than its silver content - sorry.
