I love the old commemoratives and have quite a few holes in my Dansco. I don't worry about them all being BU or even AU, but still want a nice coin at a nice value. The field on this coin looks, for lack of a better term, lumpy, which makes me not want to go any higher.....but, I'd like a 2nd opinion. Your thoughts are appreciated.

It sold for $73, but I didn't want to go that high....what is up with the lumpy field, or is that normal for that coin?

This looks to be the 'plain field' (non-2x2) variety, mintage numbers are higher and value lower than the 2x2, according to the whitman blue bk. if that helps your budget/decision. good luck.

My guess is that you're just seeing the effect of the toned vs. untoned portions of the coin, combined with the lighting used in the images.

    So did you win it?

I like the look, it has nice even toning. I think the lumpiness is normal for the design if you are talking about how the fields bulge up a little bit from the edge of the coin..

Although I don't much like toned coins, I must say that this one has nice curb appeal.
