see a little bit lesser mintage for tyler than harriosn on the roll set. harrison all 30,000 set were sold out. tyler 30,000 set were somewhat with returns. i see tyler 29,700 against harrison 30,000. reason: tne mint declared sold out. but the price of tyler moving lower. thus some collectors who ordered but not being process. those could have a change to cancel it. like me. i ordered 60 sets. but at the end i did cancel half of it.
Well, I got my D roll on TH and put it up for 3 day auction. It closed tonight at $42.68, WELL below what they were selling for earlier. Luckily, I put $5.45 as a shipping charge as well because I just did a complete listings search and most sold for about the same AND had free shipping. Well, with shipping and fees, I about break even. I made about 40 buck on the first pair I sold.....I'm glad now that when they went back on sale I only bought one of each (my P roll is backordered). Anyone else have the same issue? It is funny how Ebay goes....ya just never know. bob
I just canceled my P roll. It was due to ship on 7/6, and I just don't see that the market will rebound much for it..... bob
I'm sending all mine back.... I don't understand why these are doing so poorly..... From now on I'll stick to gold Buffalos and AGEs !!
I've been selling P&D sets together, and averaging around $100 ppd per set. (With all the fees, at $100 I make about $15 profit). But ebay sales are definitely fluky. Last Thrs I sold one for $104, the next night for $82 (and took a slight loss), the next night for $102 . . . I think selling P&D sets are OK . . . my problem will be when I sell out (I only have a couple more) I have some extra P's . . . and single rolls of P's (or D's) aren't doing nearly as well . . .
When I did a complete listing, I saw a bunch of sets going for somewhere in low to mid 80s. So, consider yourself lucky that you have been getting 100 for a set. I hope you keep doing well. bob
Wha?? Didn't you get like 60?! (the reason why I purchased so many is because you (and others) did!) At the time I wrote "I hope you guys know what I'm doing". I guess you didn't! I proposed a theory earlier on in the thread that nobody responded to -- let me quote myself here: In other words, Chief, there were too many people like me and you who purchased lots of these solely in order to flip them. And there were too many people who simply wanted a set or two that ordered early enough before they sold out. And so when it finally did sell out, there weren't enough buyers and/or were too many sellers. That's my theory anyway . . .
Thanks -- btw, what time of day do you have your auctions end? (Might that have anything to do with it?)
The John Tyler roll should go up the price within 1 month, because all sellers will sell out or return to the Mint.
But there may not be enough buyers left to keep the price up. A similar thing happened with DC and PR quarters. When the DC Mint sets sold out, the price went way up, and is still pretty high. When the PR Mint sets sold out, the price only moved up slightly, and is still only up slightly. I'm sitting on a number of sets waiting for the price to move up just a little bit more so I can break even . . . it still hasn't happened yet.
The PR is not going to go up, because it is more than 41,000 sets produced and DC (27,000 sets). John Tyler and Harrison are the same (30,000 sets +/-).
I totally agree with you earlier quote. Another thing I noticed, is that right now there is way less Harrison US Mint rolls for sale compared to Tyler rolls. This too is bringing down the price. Question: I did order 10 Tyler rolls and they will ship out on 7/10. Do you think I should still hang onto them or cancel them. I bought them to resell them, but if I will just brake even, what is the point? Robert
At the moment, I am just trying to break even on these Tylers... Most recent JK4 sold for $44.99 Mine are at $29... I'm getting worried
why worried when your cost is $29.00 and the price at e0bay is $44.95. remember when you buy from dealers at $29.00. next week you sell back to them. you lost about 25% to 50%. that's mean your money is $14.50.
as i said it again and again. the key date for prez $ is harrison dollar. for quarter is district of columbia and for lincoln is child birthplace. that's it.
The way I figure it: $44.95 revenue Costs: 4.80 postage to send it out 3.04 ebay fee (at a minimum -- that's the 0.15 listing charge) 1.60 paypal fee 35.95 cost of the item 1.00 Mint Shipping and Handling (that's if you purchased 5 and spread the cost out among the five Net: a loss of $1.44 I'll be happy to be corrected here!
