Just wanted to if any one plans on buying the 2005 US Mint American Legancy Collection when it is released on July 20. I wonder if they will continue with these new prestige sets or will it be a one year deal. I will buy at least one. Anyone else?
I'll probably buy one. However, I also want the Marshall Coin and Chronicles Set, and the Marine Corp Silver Dollar, and that may be a bit over the ole budget for one month.
I'll also be buying one when they come out but the way the Mint is treating me with the Westward Journey Coin/Medal set, I'll probaby be getting the Legacy Set at Christmas. Anyway, my gut tells me that this won't be the only year they do the Legacy set. I'm preparing for more years to come.
well FPP it costs $135 and it includes every circulated coin (basically a proof set) in proof form and the Marshall and Marine dollar in proof forms. I think ill get one of these too
If that's the case, it should make the Marshall comm. in the set, rarer than the regularly issued proofs. From the photo on the website, they appear to have a P mint mark. I think I'm going to get 5 and eBay 4 of them.
That's the set I want!!!! As far as the legacy set, I haven't decided yet. I never originally purchased any of the prestige sets and still don't own any. As far as I am concerned they are just another proof set. I think those that do get one will be happy. Generally first time issues do well on the secondary market and I think the Marine Commem. will make this set VERY desirable.
I know this is the mint we are talking about, but if they were going to offer a 2 coin set, would they not have it listed on the product schedule?
The Legacy Collection wasn't listed on the product schedule until a couple of weeks ago, so the US Mint may very well introduce new products later in the year without listing them now.
If a 2005 proof set costs aboubt $23, John Marshall about $35 and the Marine $35. How do they justify $135. Is it worth it?? ljkvette
Remember now, we're talking about the US Mint. If you want to buy the coins then you'll also have to buy the holder! I guess the fancier the packaging the higher the price the mint has to pay for it and yes, they do pass those expenses on to the customer. Fortunately for the buyers the secondary market for many commemorative sets has been very good especially for first issue sets like this.
