Ok so I have a ton of coins and old bills I hoarded over time, but am starting to think aren't worth anything special. So I decided that I'm probably going to deposit these tomorrow in my bank, but I just want a second opinion to see what you guys think. I Have: 5 old tens, from 1981-1995 4 old five dollar bill, 1989-1995 8 2 dollar bills, 1976-2003 19 Eisenhower dollar coin 37 JFK Halves (non silver) 66 Sacagawea Dollars 22 Susan B. Anthony Dollars 12 Presidental Dollars Total: 194.50 All Coins and bills are circulated and I don't see any extra value coming to them in the next 20 years. Opinions?
use them, get them in circulation. money is meant to be spent, tip your waitress with them, pay for your gas with them, know what coins carry a premium and use the rest for everyday.
Why not sell them in various lots on ebay. Tho they arent worth a hell of a lot,I know people that collect all the Ikes, all the Saqs etc. for all the release years and mint marks.
Spend the bills, you say they are in circulated condition then they aren't worth more than the face of it. Everyday you sit on them you're loosing the race against inflation. Ikes on the other hand hold a little premium sometimes. Just my $.02
Too much work with the shipping and listing :/ Plus all the Saca's are 2000 P's and all the Susans the same year, and all the Ikes bicentenials :/
I think I'll take those cents and deposit them with all the rest, even the Ike's. Thanks for the input guys!
Seems your mind is set. While your at the bank, see what they got. Ask for any new 2009 rolls. :thumb:
Unless things have changed, I believe that we are still in a deflationary cycle that started last winter and whiped out the inflation of the last two years. In the past I would have strongly supported saving the old style notes that the OP wrote about. I myself have lots of old notes from the 80s and 90s but have decided that if the predicted massive inflation of 15-18% does hit that I will be depositing most of them(saving only the very best examples) to try to avoid such high devaluation. -nos
take the worn out $$$ and trade in at the bank maybe for a box/rolls/singles of something you want. Maybe they will have some funny $$ or some off the wall notes, ya never know.
People really like the Ikes....it is a shame that you are turning them in. Do you belong to a coin club? If so, put them up for auction at face value and I'll wager they will be bid up. If not, see if there is one in town and contact the president via email and tell you have that many Ikes you are going to deposit. Then, maybe you can either go to the meeting or meet him or her somewhere and get face value for them and they can put them up for bid. This way, they will go to a collector instead of back to the FedReserve to just sit...and you might get a slight premium. Just my two lincolns... Bob
Turn in the entire mess to your bank. Yes there are those that collect Ike dollars but finding them is just not worth your time and you would end up with a few cents profit. If you dump them all at a bank you can just wait for someone to post here how they found all these fantastic coins in rolls from a bank.
.........as far as the coins i would (and do) check them to see if any are in the cherrypickers' guide and if any are listed here first. http://www.collectorscorner.org/pocket.html then deposit them if nothing found.
Well I deposited it all, but if you all think the Ike's are worth something, I know a bank that gives out a bunch of them. My dad went to a Commerce bank in New Jersey and got a packet of 25 of them, so I can always get more.
I would get some if I were you. They sell for around $2 each for circs on eBay. No reason to give them away for face IMO...
