Executive order 11921 would be the most pertinent to the dicussion, hower 12656, and 12919 as well, are all at the disposal of the executive branch with a level 6 pandemic in place, as is currently.

Executive Order 11921 (allows FEMA to “develop plans to establish control over the mechanisms of production and distribution, of energy sources, wages, salaries, credit and the flow of money in U.S. financial institution in any undefined national emergency”)
Level 6 constitutes an undefined national emergency. I'm relatively sure that would include safe deposit boxes, but I could be wrong. Level 6 certainly sets the stage for the flying pig flu "pandemic". Oh by the way, you can google this too. The strain of virus everybody's all in a tissy over was MAN MADE (accidentally released from a lob of course)

Tom is absolutely right. In 1984 Regan enacted REX 84 which allows the president with approval by the attorney general to take total control of all aspects of our life. If you choose not to believe these facts you can all go back to your little bubble and sleep safe and sound. "Hidden in plain sight". Mark and anyone else. I personally have no intention to prove my point. If one is interested to find out how the world really works they will find out. If they believe that this country is safe and the government has good intentions for us than so be it, but they will not be able to understand the continued worsening state of things (we haven't even gotten to the wave of foreclosures coming up that will make this last one looks like childs play). This is not counting the commercial real estate market implosion by this Christmas, which any sound economic forecaster knows is coming. This would affect safe deposit boxes in that if the dollar collapses, the fear is the gov will try and confiscate gold to stabilize the dollar. My local dealer consequently had two prototypes for the Amero- I bid but didn't get them. That is a whole nother subject that impacts the stability of the dollar

The real question for everyone to ask themselves= Are you open to the idea that the world around you does not work the way you think it does, and our life and freedoms here and worldwide are in serious jeopordy? I am not advocating any civil unrest. Just people to be informed and talk about the real issues going on and write their Congressman and Senators. Does anyone realize that they are trying to shut down talk radio via the FCC throught the UNFAIRNESS Doctrine (I mean Fairness Doctrine- I wasn't PC there, sorry). The media elite and most of the Senate and Congress is in favor of this. Giving equal time to alternative ideas, with heavy fines for noncompliance. Does that sound like free speech?? I am pretty sure NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, and certainly MSNBC are pretty much on the same page- villianize all those associated with Fox news and any non PC radio or media. All these ideas affect one another. This is all I will say on the matter. The real question is ones' openness to question their own beliefs about this country and it's current state of affairs. That by the way is a very Democratic idea and an idea upon which we were founded. This kind of thinking does not represent Domestic Terroism as the powers that be would have us to think. This is the discussions free societies have. We can agree to disagree but we can all voice our opinions.

That was an excellent post Boss. That is the key statement. Most I know would rather remain entrenched in fantasy land because it is more comforting. Anything contrary to their beliefs would be too unsettling and too much to handle. So much easier to laugh it off.

I find it interesting when people ask about SDBs and then what types of gold the government might confiscate from them if that day comes (again). People don't even think about what they're saying anymore. I have to ask is this 18th century England or a free U.S. of A? By the way people talk, you would hardly know these days.

Plain and simply put, if people are willing to let anything be confiscated, than they are saying at that point that the govt will be able to take care of them better than they can take care of themselves and their families in a time of crisis. So far, I've seen that they could barely handle New Orleans in a short period of crisis.

 

Well I will always argue that the safety of our currency, SDB's etc. is absolutely tied to the freedoms and safety of our country. I think when people respond like that it simply censorship because opinions are stated that make people feel uncomfortable. No offense hontonai. Had I said, "All is well your safe deposit box's are fine, no one will ever take them, and no bank has ever confiscated anything from them" That would be fine right? Of course, untrue but PC and acceptable. I argue that all bullion discussion, safety of our currency, etc. are 100% tied to political events. Does the DOWJA related to bullion? Of course, but inversely so for the most part. If gold tanks we would be talking about the stock market going up etc. etc. What affects gold and the stock market?? Perceptions of economic stabilityand geo-political events.

Gold usually goes up or down with every new presidential election (depending on the outcome). Shoud we not state this when someone posts: "Where is gold going?" When the next election rolls around?? I actually think what you are proposing to close this thread is absolute ideaological censorship. Several of us spoke of concepts that are non-PC, and this made those who want to people the world is a cozy and snuggly place uncomfortable.

I don't know if people will ever put the remote down long enough to look for truth. It's uncomfortable, and it's much easier to focus on fluff, or to just ignore things completely. I submit that if people were aware of what goes on today, and what has gone on in the past (lots of it documented through the government's own de-classified files), the simple fact that the masses are aware would likely prevent some things from happening. There are so many "incidents" that have occurred over the past several decades that should have people screaming about but, out of sight, out of mind I suppose. I don't know what ultimately can be done to change things, but I do know that, as Dr. Phil says, you can't change what you don't acknowledege. Sounds like we're pretty far from acknowledgement. Just a guess.

I am primarily collecting bullion and lower grade 90% coins these days. The only issue I have with my SDB is the fact that it is so darned heavy....probably close to 50 lbs. A real pain to move around....

No, nothing that specifically brought up SDB's but I suppose once they've covered these pretty substantial aspects of life, they probably didn't feel the need to spell out every last detail they planned to control. Often times important details can be conveniently left out.
It's pretty much a given. It's certainly not a stretch from there what the next steps could be in the name of a national emergency. They can confiscate vehicles, property, etc... Most people have no idea what new Executive orders have been added to the books in the last decade or so.

Besides that, it wouldn't be long before I'd begin to wonder if the actual owner of the bank, or for that matter whomever had access to SDB keys would leave the boxes alone or raid them and leave the country with their family to escape a chaotic event. By the time the true extent of the crime would be figured out, the culprit would be long gone. Then good luck getting anything out of anybody to make up for it.

Out of thousands of people and thousands of banks, I'd say the chances would be pretty good for something like that happening in a true crisis situation, in at least one bank, if not many. If people really had to go into survival mode, quickly, the rules would go out the window. There's an animal instinct to survive in most people. I don't think it takes that much imagination to see this scenario unfold.

 

If you have the "imagination" to see the above scenario unfold, you should also easily be able to imagine that people's possessions in their own homes wouldn't be immune either. In other words, its inconsistent to worry about safe deposit boxes and not your home.

Worry as much as you want and do what makes you feel better. But I'm OK not spending a lot of time worrying about something that hasn't happened during my life time.

 

Exactly Vess and TomC. Look at video of the LA Rodney King riots. That reaction was small scale compared to a national food or water crisis, let alone, pandemics or health concerns or terroism. Does anyone find it odd that we went to a level 5 by the WHO and only 7 (that's right: SEVEN) people died worlwide from the swine flu virus. People weren't allow to travel, cruises canceled, hospitals ran military style, etc.. I believe between 30-40 K of people die a year from influenza. The world on lock down for 7 deaths! Why did that happen? So people will be accustomed to giving up freedom in the name of Safey (even when no danger exists). We all need to stop watching E News, and propaganda TV. We know what the Elite want us to know. Only those with courage and determination (and a bunch of other attributes) know what's really going on. Unfortunately it's a very small # of people, but I have been more optimistic as more people are waking up.

 

How sad the consipiracy theorists are so intolerant of those less negative than themselves. They are wrong over and over and over again, and will never learn nor examine their belief systems. Easier to ridicule the rest of us - the safe, secure, happy, prosperous, well-adjusted. The vast majority. We're "ignorant", since we aren't "truly informed" like they are.

The level (phase 5) isn't (supposed to be) based on a particular number of deaths, but rather, specifically as noted below. You have taken giant steps in order to reach your conspiracy theory, while failing to connect the dots:

I was a grown adult in 1984. In the 25 years since, no one has taken "total control of all aspects of [my] life". It's simply not so. Your 1984 Orwellian prediction of doom and gloom has failed to come true.

Sorry, boss; your opinion is not fact. And show some respect; those that disagree with you aren't living in a "little bubble". Consider examining your belief system; it is possible some folks are a bit paranoid and ridiculously negative.

Perhaps some folks should take a closer look at their sources of "absolute truth".

 

The current pandemic type A H1N1 virus has no evidence that it was man made.

The type A H1N1 virus that cause the horrible pandemic of 1918 was similar, and its genome has been recreated by labs to aid in case of future mutations leading back to this genome.

The current influenza pandemic is caused by the H1N1 virus that has distinct mutations that we need not go into in details, except they prevent the rapid infection and death proportions of 1918 and also they allowed the interaction of Tamiflu and other anti-flu pharmaceuticals to reduce the possible spread and death rate.

Humans got lucky. But mutations can occur in the opposite directions also and the virus doesn't spread well in the summer, so we won't really know how this virus will affect the world until the fall - winter. The virus of 1918 had a mild summer before it broke loose in 1918. The record numbers of deaths in most states still stands today. But the death rate then worldwide was estimated between 15-25%.

It might not be a bad idea to get some boxes of gloves, masks , and bleach.
