To bid, or not to bid? Opinions http://cgi.ebay.com/1853-Liberty-He...QptZCoinsQ5fUSQ5fIndividualQQsalenotsupported
Here's another one I'm looking at: http://cgi.ebay.com/1832-TONED-HALF...QptZCoinsQ5fUSQ5fIndividualQQsalenotsupported
Well the coins are certified so the seller is not throwing any punches at you, I'm not famlier with the both series as far as the price range, but if you are and you think it;s a good deal go for it. I feel the seller looks legit enough to determine he's not a con artist . Good Luck JC
Thanks I am no expert on these series, so I wouldn't buy them raw... just looking for a very nice coin for me (these would be in my price range) Kind of wondering about the pricing as far as how much I should pay for either of these Thanks!
The starting bid of $229 is about right for the 1853 Quarter Eagle. So, even if you like it, I wouldn't suggest stretching by more than a few dollars beyond that price. The 1832 Half Dollar is probably worth in the upper $200 range, though if the color in the images is accurate, it doesn't appeal to me.
I don't like that gold piece at all, so I wouldn't recommend a bid on it. The half dollar appears properly graded, and as Mark says the price should be high $200's. I think I like the half dollar, at least enough to bid on it where it is now. I wouldn't pay strong money for it, though.
He has a BIN at $425, so I'm betting thats his reserve. Thats almost twice what that coin is worth, slabbed or otherwise. If there's no reserve, then the opening bid is a bargain. Guy~
Well the half seems nice, I'll watch it maybe if i can snag it for 190.00 i'll do say maybe 200 no more thanks!
Well I say the quarter eagle is beaten up, and the scratches are very very visible. The half is a nice one, and I would pay in the $220-$245 range, maybe a little more, just depends on how much I want the coin. PCGS lists it at $400 I believe and numismedia lists it $100 less, but I wouldn't try to pay retail for that. I think I'd sit tight, or sit on you hands to make it so you can't type in a bid
