I've got 50 1976 $2 bills....should I just spend (most of) them? I've got 3 sets of 5 consecutive serial numbers in UNC, I won't just spend those...I imagine I could some type of premium for them, but not much.
I would spend them. 1976 $2 notes are very common. Keep a couple of the nicest and keep stars if they are there if you want...but spend the rest.
i would keep the unc notes, even thought you can still get unc notes from banks fromt he 1976 series, if you got them i would keep them. I woudl spend any $2 note that is less then unc. i have a couple hundred 1976's i kept from when i was a kid... i doubt i will ever spend them, but i know they willnever be worth more the $2 lol
I spent all of mine. I could not see them gaining in value short or long term. Although if you have a palindrome or some other fancy serial number those are always worth a premium.
I agree with the general consensus of the group. I love the $2, and my bank orders them just for me, so when I go in every week, they have at least one hundred dollars worth. I like to spend them to see the reactions I get (plus there is no slot in the drawers for them.) To get to the point, I frequently get 1976 Toms in the bunches. Sometimes, the vast majority of the notes I get from the bank are from 1976. They are most definitely not rare. So, keep the good ones, and freak the folks out at McDonalds's with the rest!
I have a few $2 bills myself, and wouldn't spend them ever... Three were given to me as gifts from my granddaddy, and one was bought, the other was in trade. I'd keep the nicest ones you own, search for star notes, and maybe keep a couple of those, but seriously, don't keep too much, I think I'd just spend em'
I also get them from my bank (they also order them for me), I love being told that the 2's are fake money or they are not real and they won't accept them. It's amazing how many people don't know about them. It always nice to here from the older folks that running the registers that "I have not seen a $2 in a long time where are you getting them. or seeing the $2 brings back memories." They are also nice for leaving as tips.
Tru dat Halpeters! Perfect for tips. Bar maids and dancers love 'em! Whenever I give them at the bar, they put the Toms right into the tip jar.
taking back to the dump bank tomorrow to get some more. THese came from AnnArbor up to Brighton. Every week I hit banks up to 100 miles away looking for the 2s, halves and other oddities.
