I think kvarterto hit it on the head. Beautiful coin! Neat how it has the orange glass in the coin.

I agree, that really adds some great character to a musical theme.

That is a pretty sweet coin. You sure it is orange glass? I thought usually mints would use some kind of semi-precious stone.

    It's just glass crystal.

wow that orange/red glass almost looks like a small ruby :) is it coin in circulation or just a special commen to be ordered from mint only?

Yes, it is very beautiful. I have one in the series Kvarterto speaks about and it has a blue triangular zircon, and I am not positive but pretty sure Jessash1976 is right about semi-precious stones. I know mine is a zircon, I would bet this is ? dang, the name of the stone escapes me right now, but I will think of it.

I am pretty sure they hit the nail with a sledge hammer the size of a monster truck tire. it is a very nice coin/medal. Ice

The blue zircon Belarus and the reverse.

I found this on my flash drive - I haven't seen the whole series and I am not sure what fairy tale this one is but I bet they are all beautiful.

Maybe so, but those "coins" are trial pieces made by the mint in Kremnica, SK. See my reply in that forum you mentioned ;) or the articles below. As I wrote, I do not speak Russian but understood the gist, so to say, using online translation ...

Interesting, by the way, that the face value of the coin depicted in the initial post (20 rubles) equals €0.005 EUR or $0.007. Roughly half a cent.

That is the coin the series began with. It shows the Snow Queen, from Hans Christian Andersen's tale. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Snow_Queen

Edit: For those who are interested, here is additional info about the entire series, including photos, from the central bank. http://www.nbrb.by/engl/CoinsBanknotes/CommCoinTheme.asp?id=20 See the "Fairy tales of the peoples of the world" section and click the links.
