    Half Dime Mint Mark

OK I have one more question - I'm at about 50/50 on the mint mark yes and no's half the people that looked at it see it and half dont. I also took it to a local coin store and got a yes on the S. But still dont know how to determine which it is for sure since I agree with the S, if the whole thing is based upon a matter of opinion. I eventually want to put the coins up for auction and dont want to state it incorrectly nor do I want to have to continue to get others opinions until I get the majority rules vote. So what I wanted to know is if there is a big difference in the price for a 1869 vs 1869-S or would it really matter. Then the person who ends up with can choose what it is based upon there own opinion.

    Thanks for your feedback.....:D

I clearly see the S .... If no one else can see it they should be the ones to get their eyes checked

I see the S as well but it seems lower and to the left of the one Conder posted. Are there varieties where the placement of the S changes?

Most likey he does NOT. He never really answered the question about what the date was, but he did ask if there was a difference in the value of an 1869 and a 69-S, so I would assum the coin is an 1869. If it was then the place everyone was looking at the S was the wrong place because the 1869-S has the mintmark BELOW the wreath not above it where everyone kept saying the saw the S. Of course we will never know becaus this is an old thread from 6 months ago.
