How much close is considered for close AM for 1992 d penny?
In this coin, the FG font seems correct for close AMs, but the gap, not sure. And the FG shows some doubling too!
    What is your opinion, please?

Not close A M... this is close AM... the letters must be touching

As posted by others, not an AM, but an A M. C/O @DarkRage666.

When they're close they'll look like they're touchng.

I'm confused? I just said his isn't a close AM... I was saying it was A M instead... this is close AM... I don't understand how I'm wrong?

Well good for you, then that means you're right! In fact, that's one surefire way you tell around these parts. ;)

My apologies for the confusion I caused by responding to the OP and including a photograph after you had already responded @DarkRage666 . I just thought I would add a photograph since no one had. Peace! :)

I only responded that way because @LaCointessa accidentally confused me... I was a little confused by the responses.

Sometimes multiple responses are being written and the sequence of the posts vary by the content of each and is often a bit confusing. It happens from time to time.

Ok, here we go. An example of close AM is: AM_E or A_M__E. The spacing between the A and M is significantly less than it is between the M and the E. Your coin is equally spaced. Sorry you do not see it. The A and the M do not need to be touching and I have not encountered one, however, if one is out there somewhere, it is the result of die deterioration doubling or mechanical doubling.
