Wouldn't that be fantastic if it came back PF67, but I think that is a dream, since PCGS is quite stingy on 66, much less 67 grades!
WOW! These are really awesome coins! Which brings me to a question that I have been wondering about for a long time. Could someone please tell me where GreatSouthernCoins comes up with all of the stunning coins every few days for their auction? I've asked, but of course they aren't about to reveal where they get them. I could drive around for weeks and still never find the coins that they sell 2-3 times a week. Just for instance, take a look at eBay item # 290322542193 an 1873 Two Cent Piece "CLOSED 3" SOLID GEM Proof I just can't imagine where they could get all of them. Does anybody have an idea? Thanks, Chuck
They do have some nice looking coins and everytime I look at them I have to remind myself they are doctored photos.
I have to say, unfortunately, that I agree. I have purchased several coins from them, and although their coins do have amazing toning and I am still happy with them, the photos are always brighter and better than the actual coin.
Well just thought that I would scare you with some of their feedback.... I think this should be the last time, we need to make a thread that stays on top, that is locked, I guess you would call it a sticky thread, and keep it, TITLED, DONT BUY FROM GREATSOUTHERNCOIN! Their photos are doctored, and if you do buy from them, which I would recommend not doing, buy a graded example, and make sure that their return policy is a-okay. Don't ever, EVER, take a chance on a raw coin, and for me, I wouldn't take the chance on a graded coin, from greatsoutherncoin Now back to that feedback.... Here are just 13 of their feedbacks.... Coin was cleaned but failed to mention. No response to my concern... Coin Graded Pr61 No where Near Gem. spent 70.00 for Grading "UNCIRC" WAS AU. GAVE TO NCG TO BE SURE: AU 58. I knew it had to be too good to be true. You just don't come across THAT many top dollar coins, but they have some where there were only 15 minted, or maybe 550. Ya gotta drool over them. Chuck
Wait, I made a mistake! I thought you were talking about Great Toning, not Great Southern! I do recommend Great Toning's coins, but not necessarily Great Southern's. I know for a fact that they do doctor their coins, some are pretty well done! But most of them won't ever holder, so do be careful with buying their coins. I'm going to do a pot/kettle here, but we are digressing a bit, so let's "stay on task" and keep posting those gorgeous proofs!!
This one is for The Penny Lady & Lehigh & all the people that like toned proof cents. It is from my 1958 proof set. Thanks for letting me share. Very best regards, collect89
