I found this today. I've never found a star note. It is circulated with a few folds. No tears, but two pin holes.

Is this worth a premium over $100? I ask, because I'm not sure I can keep a $100 star note due to budget. If it was a 1 or a 5, it would be a no brainer.

Please help me some of you paper experts!

    :D

i have to agree with you bobbeth!!! I really hate seeing $100 stars because it is way to much money for me to tie up! I would let it go ... maybe buy $100 in singles lol try to get a few $1 stars :D

    Thanks, T$.

I will probably have to turn this in. Are there people here who want it, if so we could move this down to open. I'm NOT going to put it on ebay. We'll either strike a deal in this forum, or, regretably, I'll turn it in.

    Daggarjon.

The way I got it was I got 5 of them from my bank (who cannot get a box of halfs) and went to another bank to get my box of halves for the week. Well, I saw the star note and only bought $400 worth of halfs. If no one wants it, then I'll just get the rest of the halfs to search through....

Don't feel bad about turning this one in. According to the 'Standard Guide", the AB-* block is by far the most common star of the 1996 series, with 17,920,000 printed and a catalog retail value in Choice Crisp Uncirculated of an anemic $135. This puts the retail of your harshly folded note at about $99.50, so spending it actually gives you a profit of $.50!

Even worse, after eBay fees, paypal fees, and grading fees, the seller probably netted less than $75 of his original $100 investment.

    Didn't even think of that...
He was probably hoping for a 65/66, as that would sell a little more, but a big OUCH to that seller...

    HUGE ouch.

He could have spent it for 100 bucks, or sell it for 75......

After grading expenses, he probably lost about $50!

So, to get back to my original question, does anyone want to send me 125 bucks for my 100 dollar note?

    ::evil laugh::

    i like theidea of paying $102.50 for a slabbed $100* :D

let me know when you sell those :D :D

ok, if i had $102.50 to spend... im still not sure i would buy a slabbed $100* ... too many things on the close horizon to buy ... and far too little of a budget!
