Came by this 1986 P Jefferson Nickel in my change a while back and I've been trying to figure out if its an error or just post damage. Can't quite figure out what might have made such a sharp slice off the edge of both sides (at the same time)? Curious what error experts here can help me figure out. Thanks. I put the coin in a grid of shots each from slightly different angles of each side for best possible identification. All shots are the same coin.
Post-Mint damage. If the large clip existed before the blank entered the upset mill the rim directly opposite the clip could not have been formed.
