Mike- I am stumped by this response. This coin looks nothing of the sort. That coin looks very original. Humbly disagree. encil:encil:encil:encil:encil:encil:encil::high5::high5::high5::high5::high5:. A friendly disagreement. Not a CU type of one :secret:
wow. I didn't know I'd stir up so many strong friendly disagreements. Here are some additional pics with different lighting. No photoshop or anything done to the pics other than some slight brightness changes.
I guess it's the pic that looks really grainy to me and I mistook it for grainy surfaces. I can see the same kind of fuzziness to the background though now that I really look hard. If I were to grade it as if the surfaces are nice and original then my grade is MS-64 Red. I could not nor would I ever criticize anyone's photography skills, because I really stink at it!
Yeah those new photos change my opinion a little. Probably 63 RB. Some brown on the obverse and the carbon on the rev with scattered marks front/back. Might get a 64.
The new photos give it a whole different look. Normally I'd be with Charmy on just about anything copper, I'm curious what she thinks after the new photos. At this point unless seen in hand I'd give a range of AU58-MS63 RD or RB.
Aww now tmoney look closely at the second set of pictures. Look in the fields, indian feather tips and you should see the brown poking throught. More than enough to eliminate RD and drop to RB designation. I probably should say rise since I like RB better than red. As for the grade well I think MS63, but as mentioned it could be 58 to 64. Still a nice coin.
Just a question , if the coin was cleaned chemically enough to leave a grainy surface , wouldn't it of taken the luster with it ? rzage
Well Mark, I can see what you are saying, and would think about lowering my designation to the coin... So johnny, you gonna get it graded????
My first guess, and I have not read the whole thread. 63/64 RB, possible a 63 RD I'm on a limb but lets let if fly
thanks for the comments. probably not, i like em raw in general. You can see it's home among friends in the 7070 typeset photos I recently posted. Lots of other coins that I have been posting are in this album as well. BTW, I paid $50 for the indian cent in these pictures.
I guess what I am saying is that if the coin was dipped in an abrasive solution, the luster would be bright as in red, but the surfaces would be very grainy
