Very pretty coin, nice strike. Looks like a nick in the field next to LIBERTY and some marks in the field across from the neck so MS63 Red or RB - can't quite tell the color from the photos but the obverse looks darker.
It looks like a nice 63 or 64 RD to me Very tiny flaws, a tiny scratch below the N in CENT, the nick that thepennylady was talking about, and also some more nicks below the jaw and in between STATES and OF A nice coin that is for sure!
It also has a nick by the "B" in LIBERTY. Without that, I would think 64, but... Like Charmy, I cannot tell if it is red or RB, but I would guess RB.
I agree with the color problem, Red or RB. That's an in-hand sort of question. But I'll go with RB since the "redness" is quite similar to my RB. I was going to go 64 or 65, all depending upon the appearance of the marks, again in-hand. How visible are they to the naked eye? I've done enough coin imaging to know that it really enhances marks that aren't easily visible to the eye. Under a 5x loupe, well, that's another story. But with all the marks visible in your image, I'll go with 64.
thanks gfor the comments! I think a 63 rb is pretty close. The obverse is pretty red, but has somewhat of a darker hue than the reverse. The nicks are tiny, but can be viewed up close. I bought this coin raw at the coin shop as a MS.
64 RD to RB. Don't send to NGC if you get graded. They are too picky about RD criteria in my opinion. That is a splendid coin. VERY Nice
I'd grade it AU-58 cleaned MS details. there is too much graininess to the surface. It should be fairly smooth and this coin is not. My guess is that it was chemically cleaned.
I have to humbly but strongly disagree with you on this one - I think the graininess is due to the photo, not the coin. This is definitely MS.
Nice looking coin I also think this could be a MS63. I do have a baseline question.. Did you use Photoshop or some type of photo processing software? If you did be sure not to use the Photo Filter for Sharping with this picture more than 2x .. it will cause a very grainy appearance. The obverse looks too filtered to me and I do not think what I am seeing is the true coin's surface. May be wrong but just my thoughts.
we were asked to grade the coin based on the pics. If the surface is that grainy, then I stick to my cleaned opinion. If the pic is pixel lated in some way, then I would have to see a better pic before I change my grade.
