    While I was killing my eyes searching for that 6th finger today I took a peek at some other Lincolns I had sitting around including this 71-s proof. The "L" in LIBERTY is super skinny, yet the coin isn't off-center nor shows other markings to make me thing the die missed or slipped. Has anyone came across this before? (First post, thanks for having me!).

    Welcome to Coin Talk!

    If you are referring to the line along Lincoln's back, then yes! It is the result of Machine Doubling and is seen on many late 60's and early 70's "Business Strike" and "Proof" Lincoln Cents.

    Welcome to the forum;
    #2) You have to be a little more exact with your discussion.
    #3) Are you referring to the green crud in the field?

    See, no way to know what you are talking about.

    I'm sorry, but funny exercise in how people see what they see. I was referring to the VERY skinny L in LIBERTY.

    And whew, green is on the flip - a fuzzy.

    oh, now I see it.

    Um, nope, never noticed it before.
    That said, it is most likely from overpolishing of the die.

    I wouldn't add any value for it.

    [but that is just me.]

    But, keep looking.
